GOLF INFORMATION

GRAND FINAL FORMAT - The Tournament will be played over 54 holes, one round on The Ocean Course and two rounds on The Royal Course.

The Individual format will be Stableford with Playing Handicap being 95% of Course Handicap.

The Team format will be Better-Ball Stableford with Playing Handicap being 85% of Course Handicap.

The winners will be the Individual and Team returning the highest aggregate number of points.  In the case of a tie there will be a count back over the last 18 holes, last 9, 6, 3, 1.

The Local Rules as defined on the back of the scorecard will apply throughout the competition.

TEES -    Ocean  – Men / White   Ladies / Red          Royal – Men / White  Ladies / TBC

PREFERRED LIES – will be in operation on both courses on closely mown areas only within a scorecard length.

HANDICAP INDEX - All competitors MUST show proof of their current Handicap Index when checking in for the practice round. Golf Union apps on your mobile are acceptable.

HANDICAP ADJUSTMENT – The organisers reserve the right to adjust any competitor’s Handicap Index during the competition if it does not appear to reflect their standard of play.

DAILY PRIZES - There will be two ‘Nearest the Pin’ competitions each day with the prizes being awarded at the Presentation on Sunday evening.

START TIMES – The draw for the first round will be done the week before the event. In the final round competitors will play in score order with the leaders going out last.

GOLF ACADEMY / RANGE - The Golf Academy is located by the first tee on The Ocean Course and tokens are available from the Golf Reception.

BUGGIES & TROLLEYS - The use of buggies is permitted during the tournament and these are available from Golf Reception for €35 per round. Electric trolleys can be hired for €15 per round, pull trolleys are complimentary.   

GROUP PHOTOGRAPH - On Sunday morning we would like everyone – guests included – to meet at 9.00am on the first tee of the Royal Course for a group photo which will be used on next years entry form.  Please wear your Vale do Lobo Matchplay Championship polo shirt for the photograph.

BREAKFAST - Please note breakfast is not included in your prize.

Spikes Bar - Full English or Continental breakfast is available between 8.00 and 11.00am from Tuesday to Friday inc.

Sandbanks – breakfast served between 9.30am and 11.30am each day.

THE ROYAL SPA:  The fantastic spa at Vale do Lobo offers a full range of treatments and discounts are available with your orange Resort Card. 

EVENING DINING:  Not all the restaurants on the Vale do Lobo Resort and the surrounding area are open at this time of year.  We will recommend restaurants and anybody wishing to eat with the group is welcome to join us.

PRESENTATION DINNER – will be staged on Sunday evening and we will provide full details.
