COMPETITOR INFORMATION

Practice Round:  The club has offered us a discounted green fee of £30 per person for any competitor wishing to play a practice round.  You will need to call the club office on the number above to book a tee time in advance stating that you are a competitor in the Titleist FootJoy Matchplay Championship.

Format: Play will be in fourballs from 10:30am from the 1st tees.  The draw will be online within 7 days of the event. If you require an early or late tee time please contact the office info@gmmltd.co.uk.

The scoring format will be Betterball Stableford. Playing Handicap will be 85% of Course Handicap.

The leading pair will qualify for the Grand Final.

Qualification for Grand Final:  The leading pair will qualify on the day.  Please note there will be more competitors in the regional finals this year as we reduced the matchplay rounds from four to three.

Tee Times: The first tee time is approximately 10.30am and the draw will be made 7 days prior to the event. Click on ‘Entries’ above to view your tee time.  We will inform Player A of your team start time by email.

Covid 19:  All current Government guidelines will apply both on and off the course and social distancing must be exercised at all times.

Competitors are asked not to arrive at the golf club more than 30 minutes before their tee time. 

Please change into your golf shoes etc in the car park.

Toilets in the clubhouse will be open and no items of clothing etc can be left in the clubhouse.

Practice facilities:  There is a practice ground but competitors will need to provide their own practice balls.

Rules: The Rules of Golf as laid down by the R&A will apply along with any relevant Local Rules.

Tees: Play will be from the white or medal tees for men depending on the weather conditions on the day and from the red tees for ladies.

Handicap: Maximum        Men – 24         Ladies – 30

GPS & Lasers:  The use of GPS and laser rangefinding equipment is permitted as under the R&A Rules of Golf the use of smart phones and other devices which provide additional information such as wind speed/direction and distance taking into account gradient is in breach of the Rules of Golf.

Caddies:  Caddies may be used but any catering will be at their own expense.

Buggies:  The use of buggies is permitted and the buggy is the full responsibility of the player/s who is hiring it.  Please note the use of buggies is dependent on course conditions and the decision will be made by the golf club on the day.

Catering:  Coffee and bacon rolls will be available on arrival.  We can only confirm nearer the day whether there will be catering available following play. 

Dress code: Normal golf attire.

Presentation: Due to the current Covid guidelines there will not be a presentation.  The scores will be displayed on the website with the qualifying pairs highlighted.

The qualifiers will be informed by email along with full details of the Grand Final in Portugal.

Card playoff:  In the case of tied scores places will be decided on a card playoff over the last 9, 6, 3, 1 hole/s as they appear on the scorecard regardless of starting tee. Any team losing out on a card play off will be offered another chance to qualify at the Play Off event at Sandwell Park, Birmingham on Monday 26th July.

Grand Final:  Vale do Lobo Golf & Beach Resort 9 - 14 December 2021. 

The prize will include: return flights to Faro from the UK; airport transfers; five nights accommodation in the luxury apartments at the Vale do Lobo Golf & Beach Resort; five rounds of golf including - a practice round if your flight time permits,  two rounds on the spectacular Ocean Course and two rounds on the magnificent Royal Course; Welcome Drinks and Presentation Dinner; some great prizes for the winners and a lot of fun for everyone.
