Information for Competitors

 

Your prize includes:

·        Four nights bed & breakfast in a 5 star hotel – check in on Friday 21st and check out Tues 25th  October

·        Four rounds of golf on the highly acclaimed Oitavos Dunes Course – including optional practice round

·        Welcome Drinks and Buffet and Presentation Dinner

·        Opportunity to become 2016 Tour Champion with great prizes for leading three players

·        Three rounds count towards your final place in the 2016 OoM

·        Three rounds count for points on 2017 Worldwide OoM

Itinerary:

 

Friday 21st October

  • Optional practice round – tee booked from 11.12am – 2.00pm
  • Following golf check in to hotel from 3.00pm.
  • Informal Welcome Drinks and Buffet from approx. 8.00pm

 

Saturday 22nd October

  • Breakfast in the hotel
  • First round of Tour Final - matches tee off from 11.12am in Order of Merit points order
  • Evening at leisure

 

Sunday 23rd October

  • Breakfast in the hotel
  • Second round of Tour Final - matches tee off from 11.12am in score order.
  • Evening at leisure

 

Monday 24th October

  • Breakfast in the hotel
  • Final round of Tour Final - matches tee off from 11.12am in score order.
  • Presentation Dinner

 

Tuesday 25th October

  • Depart hotel after breakfast
  • Check out by 12noon

We are using two 5 star hotels which are very close to each other just outside the very pretty former fishing village of Cascais which is now an upmarket suburb of Lisbon with a variety of bars & restaurants.

Airport transfers:

Airport transfers can be booked directly with The Oitavos Hotel and the charge is 64 Euros per car for up to 4 passengers.  To book an airport transfer you must email  reservations@theoitavos.com  

The journey time from Lisbon Airport to Cascais is approximately 40 minutes (35kms) depending on traffic.


 

Golf Course Transfers:

The hotels are laying on a shuttle service for those persons staying at the Quinta da Marinha Hotel.

 

 

Dress Code: 

You will NOT need a jacket and tie or the equivalent for ladies. The dinners on Friday and Monday are informal and the dress code is smart casual.  At all other times the hotel request that the dress code is smart casual.

 

 

Golf: Oitavos Dunes – www.oitavosdunes.com

The course at Oitavos is ranked 58th in the world and 2nd in mainland Europe in the very respected biannually published Golf Magazine ‘Top 100 Courses’.   The course is a lovely mix of woodland and links type holes which follow the natural terrain. There are fantastic views of the coast and the Atlantic Ocean with a backdrop of the Sintra Mountains.  Given its coastal location the wind is normally a factor in any round at Oitavos.          

 

Golf itinerary:

Friday 21st October – Practice round

 

We are currently holding tee times between 11.12am and 2.00pm. If you wish to book a practice tee time please email us on info@gmmltd.co.uk.

 

Saturday 22nd October - First round draw:           

Play will be in fourballs. The order of play will be on the basis of your final position in the Order of Merit with the leaders going out last. Play starts at 11.12am. The first round draw will be on the website www.eagt.co.uk by 5.00pm on Thursday 20th October.

 

Sunday 23rd October - Second round draw:

Play will be in fourballs. The order of play will be on the basis of your score in the first round with the leaders going out last and play starts at 11.12am

 

Monday 24th October – Third / Final round draw:

Play will be in fourballs.  The order of play will be on the basis of your 36 hole score with the leaders going out last and play starts at 11.12am.

 

Practice facilities:

The practice facilities are excellent and range balls are included.

 

 

Buggies & electric trolleys:

Oitavos is not a difficult walking course. Buggies and electric trolleys are in limited supply and we cannot guarantee you will get one but they MUST be booked in advance by email with Janet info@gmmltd.co.uk

Buggies charges are Euro 58 per round and electric trolleys are Euro 22 per round.  The club has plenty of pull trolleys available at Euro 7 per round.

2016 Order of Merit Winners: 

The final positions in both the 2016 Worldwide and UK Orders of Merit will be calculated on the basis of a competitors best nine merit scores which may or may not include the three rounds played in the Tour Final at Oitavos.

 

2016 Tour Final Winners: 

The results will be decided over three rounds of Individual Stableford with full handicap allowance.  Any ties over 54 holes will be decided on a card playoff on the last 18 holes, 9 holes, 6 holes etc.

 

2017 Worldwide Order of Merit: 

Merit points will be awarded for the three competition rounds on Sat, Sun and Monday for the 2017 OoM.

 

 

CONGU Qualifier:

This event will NOT be a CONGU handicap qualifying event as it is outside the UK.

 

 

GPS Range finding equipment:

The use of GPS and laser equipment is permitted as long as it complies with R&A regulations.
