THE HOLLY INN

Pinehurst’s very first hotel, The Holly Inn has welcomed guests since 1895. It is situated in the heart of the Village, offering easy access to everything just steps from its iconic striped entrance.

The architecture here is part Queen Anne revival and part Arts & Crafts, but the overall effect is pure Pinehurst. Fine touches adorn every guest room, from the Tiffany lamps illuminating the space to the antique bar that once dwelled in Scotland but now welcomes thirsty patrons in our Tavern. You can also visit the pool for a more intimate, quiet space for sunning and relaxing.

This truly unique property has engendered much affection over its century-plus lifespan, and we’re sure you’ll love it as well.

THE CAROLINA HOTEL

For over a century, the “Queen of the South” has welcomed guests to Pinehurst. Come stroll across the hotel’s spacious verandas and into one of 230 Four-Diamond rooms and suites which, along with its grand lobby, have been newly renovated. The Carolina Dining Room, home to the best breakfast in golf, continues to tempt the palate of every guest, while the new Coffee House located in the lobby serves up quick bites and freshly brewed java. This cornerstone of Pinehurst also offers a heated pool complex, putting green on its West Lawn and two retail outlets for your shopping needs.

Some say you can feel the spirit of Pinehurst as you turn onto Carolina Vista Drive, and that spirit continues to grow thanks to the continued improvement of the Carolina Hotel.

Once you’ve gotten to Pinehurst, you’ll find that getting settled and getting around are both simple and convenient. Parking is plentiful, and many find that once they’ve parked their vehicle…that’s where it stays until it’s time to depart. A fleet of on-call shuttles waits to shuffle you off to wherever it is you’d like to go, servicing all of Pinehurst’s facilities. Pick-up time averages just 15 minutes, so call ahead and by the time you’ve paid your check at one of our restaurants or come downstairs from your room, we’ll be waiting to take you anywhere you’d like to go.

Please note that ride share options such as Uber and Lyft are extremely limited in the Pinehurst area.

Guests arriving at The Carolina Hotel may park in the adjacent lot to the hotel, with Valet Parking available. The Manor and Holly Inn have lots adjacent to each property. In the event that spaces are not available, guests may park in the lot located at the Resort Clubhouse and utilize our complimentary shuttle service.

Pinehurst cannot do single bags, unless there is an odd number of people taking caddies in each grouping. 

Double bag is $80, plus cash tip of $60 per person and a fore caddie is $40, plus cash tip of $35 per person. The fee is charged in the shop and the tip is directly to the caddie.

Buggies are included and shared between two players.

Carts are restricted to paths on courses No. 2 and No. 4, while they are allowed on the fairways of all other courses, except for Course No. 10 which is walking only.

No. 10 course only has carts for those that have any sort of medical issue. Push carts are available at the first tee and are complimentary. The course was designed to be a walking only course by Tom Doak.

Golf Course Transfers are included, use shuttle service.

Travel Insurance:  We consider adequate travel insurance to be essential.  As a condition of entry, you are required to arrange an insurance policy to cover cancellation, accident & medical problems, personal liability, legal expenses, luggage, delays etc.

ESTA:  Please ensure you have an up to date and valid ESTA. 

Flights:  The most convenient way to fly into Pinehurst is via Raleigh-Durham International (RDU) which is about 75 minutes from Pinehurst. You may also arrive via Charlotte Douglas International (CLT), which is about two hours away, Piedmont Triad international (GSO), which is 75 minutes away, or Fayetteville Regional (FAY), which is an hour away. Guests arriving by private aircraft may fly into Moore Regional (SOP) located 10 minutes away.

Airport Transfers:  Airport transfers are not included as we anticipate that people will fly in at different times.

The resort offers Airport Shuttle Service to RDU available during peak hours. Please note that ride share services are very limited from Pinehurst to RDU.

Format:  The scoring format each day will be individual Stableford. 

Handicaps:  Playing Handicap will be set at 95% of Course Handicap. The maximum Playing Handicaps are 24 for men and 30 for ladies. If your handicap exceeds these limits, you can still play, but for competition purposes, you’ll play off these limits.

All five rounds will be run under the World Handicap System (WHS). Scores will not automatically be forwarded to your Golf Union.  Participants MUST return their daily scores to their golf club. The easiest way to do this is to forward the email from Golf Genius, which will be received after each round, and provides details of your scores.

GAGT Overseas Handicap System (OHA):  Handicaps will be adjusted after each round in line with the GAGT OHA system. The GAGT OHA system is based on the CONGU handicap system prior to the introduction of WHS. Adjustments made by the GAGT OHA system will not affect your club Handicap Index.

The GAGT OHA system takes precedence over adjustments made by a player’s home club to ensure consistency. Details of the GAGT OHA system can be provided upon request.

Daily Draw:  The draw for the first two rounds will be available on the website a week before the event.

The draw for the last round will be made in score order.

In the last round, the leaders will go out last.

Rules:  The R&A Rules of Golf and local rules apply - No Gimmies. 

Participants can use the message facility in their Locker/Account for requests such as playing partners and early or late tee times. The organisers will do their best to accommodate these requests.

To avoid excess baggage charges, prizes will be in the form of vouchers for the Global Amateur Golf Tour.

Daily Prizes:

1st Place: £100 GAGT voucher

2nd Place: £70 GAGT voucher

3rd Place: £50 GAGT voucher

Overall Vouchers: 

1st Place: £200 GAGT voucher

Nearest the Pin:  There will be two Nearest the Pins for each round, with a prize of a £25 GAGT voucher.

Sweep:  An optional sweep of $50, $10 per round, collected in cash during check-in before the first round.  The sweep will be paid out daily for the leading three scores and anyone who scores a two.

Merit points will be awarded for all five rounds.

Points will be awarded on the basis of 100 points to the winner, 99 points for runner-up, 98 points for third, and so on.

Participants need to be a current member of the GAGT to qualify for merit points.
