  • Courses

Regularly recognised among the finest courses in the country, Woking is currently ranked #79 in Golf Monthly's Top 100 Courses in the UK & Ireland and #28 in England by National Club Golfer.

Founded in 1893, Woking is the oldest of Surrey's famous "Three Ws", alongside West Hill and Worplesdon, and is one of the great traditional heathland courses of English golf.

Originally designed by Tom Dunn, the course was later shaped by influential members John Low and Stuart Paton, whose work at Woking played an important role in the development of strategic golf course architecture. Their famous central fairway bunkering on the 4th hole was considered revolutionary at the time and helped establish the principle that golfers should be challenged not simply by hazards, but by decisions and angles.

Today, Woking remains a classic test of strategy rather than power. Fast-running heathland fairways, heather, carefully positioned bunkers and beautifully contoured greens reward intelligent course management and accurate shot-making. At more than 6,600 yards from the back tees, its defence comes not from excessive length but from the decisions it asks golfers to make throughout the round.

The greens are regarded as one of the course's greatest challenges, with subtle slopes and undulations placing a premium on both approach play and putting.

With more than 130 years of history, significant influence on golf course architecture and a place amongst the UK's Top 100 courses, Woking provides a superb setting for the Global Amateur Golf Tour.
