  • Courses

    The Dunes Course
The Greek Open begins – and finishes – on The Dunes Course, Costa Navarino's original signature course and one of the leading courses in Continental Europe.

The Dunes was the first signature-designed golf course in Greece and is currently ranked #92 in Golf World's Top 100 Courses in Continental Europe.

Designed by former US Masters Champion Bernhard Langer, in association with European Golf Design, the course is set within the spectacular landscape of Messinia, with views towards the Ionian Sea and holes moving through olive and fruit groves alongside areas of traditional links-inspired terrain.

The course combines wide landing areas with strategically positioned bunkers, large undulating greens and numerous risk-and-reward decisions. The coastal breeze can add another dimension, placing an emphasis on controlling both trajectory and distance.

For GAGT competitors, The Dunes plays an important role in the Greek Open. Players will open the tournament here before returning for the fifth and final round, giving everyone the opportunity to use what they learned earlier in the week when the competition reaches its conclusion.

    The Hills Course
Designed by two-time Masters Champion and Ryder Cup legend José María Olazábal, The Hills Course provides a completely different experience from the coastal setting of The Dunes.

Opened in 2022, this par-72 course is located at Navarino Hills, high above the coastline with panoramic views across the surrounding countryside, the historic Bay of Navarino and the Ionian Sea.

The course measures approximately 6,280 metres from the back tees and makes extensive use of the natural landscape. Rolling terrain, strategically positioned bunkering and large greens reward golfers who choose the correct angles and think carefully about their approach to each hole.

The elevated setting also means the wind can play an important role, while the spectacular views across Messinia accompany much of the round.
Currently ranked #132 in Golf World's extended ranking of the leading courses in Continental Europe, The Hills demonstrates the depth of quality available across Costa Navarino.

A modern championship course from one of Europe's great golfers and course designers, it provides an excellent second challenge of the Greek Open.

    The Bay Course
Designed by renowned American architect Robert Trent Jones Jr., The Bay Course is one of the most visually spectacular courses at Costa Navarino.

Opened in 2011, the par-71 layout is built around the historic Bay of Navarino, with the majority of tees offering sea views and two holes running directly alongside the bay.

The course is currently ranked #109 in Golf World's extended ranking of the leading courses in Continental Europe.

At approximately 5,614 metres from the back tees, The Bay is shorter than some of the other courses at Costa Navarino, but its challenge comes through strategy rather than outright length.

The routing moves through three distinct landscapes – Seaside, Canyon and Grove – giving the course tremendous variety. Elevation changes, strategically positioned bunkers and changing wind conditions continually influence club selection and shot choice.

With spectacular views across the historic bay and a design that rewards intelligent golf, The Bay Course provides one of the most memorable rounds of the week.

    International Olympic Academy Golf Course
Our fourth course is the International Olympic Academy Golf Course, another spectacular José María Olazábal design at Navarino Hills.
It holds the distinction of being the first International Olympic Academy Golf Course in the world and occupies more than 125 hectares of dramatic terrain overlooking the historic Bay of Navarino and the Ionian Sea.

Measuring approximately 6,366 metres, the championship layout combines significant elevation changes with wide views across the surrounding landscape.

Olazábal's design uses the natural contours of the hills to create strategic choices throughout the round, with bunkering, changing elevations and carefully positioned greens rewarding accurate ball striking and thoughtful course management.

The course is currently ranked #115 in Golf World's extended ranking of the leading courses in Continental Europe.

Its elevated setting and sweeping views make it a striking contrast to The Dunes and The Bay, while providing another championship-quality test during an exceptional week of golf.

With five rounds across all four Costa Navarino courses, including two opportunities to tackle The Dunes, the Greek Open showcases the full golfing experience of one of Europe's leading golf destinations.

  • Competition Format

90 - hole Individual Stableford (95% of Course Handicap)

Handicap Limits: Men – max 24, Women – max 30

GAGT Order of Merit points awarded for each competition round

  • Handicaps

    • Playing Handicaps

Playing Handicaps will be calculated at 95% of a player's Course Handicap.

The maximum Playing Handicap for competition purposes is 24 for men and 30 for women. Players whose calculated Playing Handicap exceeds these limits may still compete but will play off the applicable maximum Playing Handicap.

GAGT Overseas Handicap Adjustment (OHA) System

GAGT operates an Overseas Handicap Adjustment (OHA) system to promote fairness and consistency across its overseas competitions.

The system is based on the CONGU handicap adjustment format used prior to the introduction of the World Handicap System (WHS).

Following each round, a player's OHA may be reduced according to their Stableford score and applicable handicap category.

The OHA system only permits handicap reductions. Handicaps will never be increased under this system, regardless of a player's score.

OHA adjustments apply exclusively to GAGT competition purposes and do not affect a player's official Handicap Index maintained by their home club.

The GAGT OHA system takes precedence over any adjustments made by a player's home club during the event.

      How the OHA System Works

Following each round, players scoring more than 36 Stableford points will receive a handicap reduction based on the number of points scored above 36 and their current OHA handicap category.

The following reduction rates apply for each Stableford point scored above 36:

Current OHA Handicap Category = Reduction per Point Above 36
      1–5 = 0.1
      6–12 = 0.2
      13–20 = 0.3
      21–28 = 0.4
      29–36 = 0.5

The player's updated OHA following each round will determine their handicap category for the next round. Any subsequent reductions will be calculated using that updated category.

      Example

A player with an OHA of 16.0 scores 40 Stableford points.

      - Stableford score: 40 points
      - Points above 36: 4
      - Handicap category: 13–20
      - Reduction rate: 0.3 per point
      - Total reduction: 1.2

The player's OHA will reduce from 16.0 to 14.8 for the next round.

All subsequent adjustments will be calculated using the player's updated OHA.

No OHA increase will be applied following a score of 36 Stableford points or fewer.
