    Murcar Links
Ranked #91 in Golf Monthly's 2025/26 Top 100 Courses in the UK & Ireland, Murcar Links provides a superb opening round to the North East Scotland Open.

Situated on the spectacular Aberdeenshire coastline immediately alongside Royal Aberdeen, Murcar was designed by Archie Simpson and opened in 1909.

The course is a traditional Scottish links, routed through naturally undulating dune land with the North Sea providing a dramatic backdrop throughout the round. Firm-running fairways, burns, heather, gorse and strategically positioned bunkers combine to create a course where accuracy and intelligent course management are essential.

Murcar has developed a strong championship reputation and has hosted a number of prestigious amateur and professional events, including the European Challenge Tour's Scottish Challenge and the Paul Lawrie Match Play on the European Tour.

The coastal wind can completely change the character of the course from one day to another, demanding imagination, controlled ball flight and all the traditional skills associated with great links golf.

A genuine UK & Ireland Top 100 links and a fitting introduction to four days of golf on the spectacular Aberdeenshire coast.

    Trump International – New Course
Our second round provides the opportunity to experience one of the newest and most talked-about links courses in world golf – the New Course at Trump International Golf Links, Scotland.

Officially opened in July 2025, the New Course was subsequently named World's Best Golf Course 2025 and Europe's Best New Golf Course 2025 at the World Golf Awards.

Stretching to approximately 7,589 yards from the back tees, the course is carved through the enormous natural dunes of the Aberdeenshire coastline and was created to complement the venue's acclaimed original championship links.

The landscape is extraordinary. Mountainous sand dunes, cavernous sandy hollows, ancient burns and elevated tees combine with spectacular views across the North Sea to create a modern links on a remarkable scale.
One of its most distinctive features is the world's largest natural sand bunker, while infinity greens positioned along the coastal dune ridge further emphasise the dramatic nature of the site.

Despite its scale, the course is designed around strategic golf rather than simply length. Multiple teeing options, changing elevations and the surrounding natural hazards provide different routes and decisions throughout the round.

    Trump International – Old Course
The following day we return to Trump International to take on the original Old Course, providing the opportunity to experience both halves of the resort's spectacular 36-hole offering.

Designed by renowned golf course architect Dr Martin Hawtree and opened in 2012, the Old Course is routed through the Great Dunes of Scotland along one of the most dramatic stretches of coastline in the country.
The course is recognised among the Top 50 courses in the world by the resort and has received international acclaim since opening.

Two out-and-back loops weave their way through towering dunes, secluded valleys and dramatic coastal terrain, with views across the North Sea accompanying golfers throughout much of the round.

Natural dunes frame the holes, while strategic bunkering, elevation changes and exposed coastal conditions place a premium on both accuracy and creativity. The wind is an ever-present factor and can dramatically alter how individual holes need to be played.

The Old Course has also established significant professional tournament credentials, with Trump International hosting events including the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship and the Nexo Championship.

    Cruden Bay Golf Club
Ranked #58 in Golf Monthly's 2025/26 Top 100 Courses in the UK & Ireland, Cruden Bay provides a wonderfully traditional conclusion to the North East Scotland Open.

Opened in 1899, the original course was designed by legendary figures Old Tom Morris and Archie Simpson, with later work from Tom Simpson and Herbert Fowler helping shape the course experienced today.

Cruden Bay is unlike almost anything else on the trip.

The course twists and turns through dramatic natural dunes overlooking the North Sea, combining blind shots, elevation changes, burns, traditional links bunkering and wonderfully imaginative green complexes.
Its character is perhaps best demonstrated by the famous par-4 14th, which plays towards a remarkable punchbowl green hidden amongst the dunes, while the short 15th is beautifully framed by the surrounding landscape.

Rather than feeling manufactured or predictable, Cruden Bay constantly asks golfers to adapt. Some shots require precision, others imagination, and occasionally players simply have to trust the contours of the land and allow the ball to find its way towards the target.

More than 125 years of history, classic links architecture and a spectacular coastal setting have made Cruden Bay one of Scotland's most distinctive and highly regarded links.

After the championship scale of Murcar and Trump International, Cruden Bay provides a fitting finale – traditional, quirky, historic and unmistakably Scottish.

Four rounds. Two UK & Ireland Top 100 courses. Both Trump International links. One of Scotland's great traditional links venues. An exceptional four days of golf on the Aberdeenshire coast.
