Airport Transfers
Airport transfers are not included but Vale do Lobo is only 20 minutes by taxi from Faro Airport and the fare is approximately €30.

Hire Car
Should you wish to hire a car we can recommend VDL Car Hire that will meet you at Faro airport with your car and meet you at the airport on return. They are offering us discounted rates and you just need to say you are part of the GMM Ltd Group to access these special rates. VdL Car Hire have an office at the Vale do Lobo resort in case of any difficulties.

Accommodation is in the recently refurbished one and two bedroom apartments on the Vale do Lobo Resort. The apartments include ensuite bathrooms, kitchen area and separate lounge. In addition to the two excellent golf courses there is a first class Spa and gym for the non-golfers and a variety of bars and restaurants close by.

The four-star Magnolia Hotel is located in Quinta do Lago opposite the shopping precinct and less than a 5-minute drive to Vale do Lobo. The hotel has recently been completely refurbished.

Wyndham Grand Algarve is the newest 5-star hotel in Quinta do Lago. Enjoy freedom and spaciousness with the added comfort of five-star services and amenities.

Breakfast: Breakfast is not included in the package at Vale do Lobo but there are several options on the resort and if you prefer to self-cater each apartment includes a fully equipped kitchen. Breakfast is included at the Magnolia Hotel, Conrad Hotel and the Wyndham.

Insurance:
Please ensure that you have adequate travel and medical insurance cover for the duration of your stay in Portugal.

Clothing:
The weather on the Algarve in January can be changeable and we advise you to bring some warm clothing and your waterproofs just in case. The dress code for the evenings is casual.

Buggies:
Shared buggies are included.

GPS yardage equipment:
The use of GPS and laser distance measuring equipment is permitted during the event.

Evening Activities:
Not all the local restaurants will be open, but we will recommend a different restaurant each evening for those who wish to remain as part of the group. You will be completely free to do what you wish in the evenings.


GOLF INFORMATION

Golf Itinerary:
Tue 9              Practice round from 10am on either course - if flight timing permits

Wed 10         1st round – Group A - Royal Course - tee times from 9.30am
                      Group B - Ocean Course - tee times from 9.50am

Thu 11           2nd round - Group A - Ocean Course - tee times from 9.30am
                       Group B - Royal Course - tee times from 9.50am

Fri 12            3rd round - Group A - Royal Course - tee times from 9.30am
                      Group B - Ocean Course - tee times from 9.50am

Sat 13           4th round - Group A - Ocean Course - tee times from 9.30am
                      Group B - Royal Course - tee times from 10.30am


Each day half the field will play the Ocean Course and the other half will play the Royal. All competitors will play two rounds on each course with daily prizes.

Competition Format:
The Tournament will be played over 72 holes, two rounds will be played on The Royal Course and two rounds on The Ocean Course.

The format will be Individual Stableford with 95% of Course Handicap Allowance.

The winners will be the individuals returning the highest aggregate number of points.  In the case of a tie there will be a count back over the last 18 holes, last 9, 6, 3, 1.

Play will be predominantly in fourballs on all five days.

Handicap:
The competition is open to all male and female golfers who are current members of a golf club with an active WHS Handicap or the equivalent handicap overseas.

We will need to see proof of your current Handicap Index when you register for the opening round on Thursday morning.

We will reduce handicaps in the competition if necessary, depending on scores.

The maximum playing handicap limits will be 24 for men and 30 for ladies.

Tees:  Men – TBC - depending on conditions on the day
           Ladies – Composite Tees

Local Rules: The Local Rules as defined on the back of the scorecard will apply throughout the competition.

Prizes: There will be prizes for the leading three scores each day including two Nearest the Pins.

To avoid any excess baggage charges prizes will be in the form of vouchers for the GAGT as follows:

Daily vouchers: 1st - £100, 2nd - £70, 3rd - £50          Overall vouchers: 1st - £175, 2nd £150, 3rd - £125.

Range balls: Tokens are available from the Golf Reception

Sweep: There will be an optional sweep of €40 (€10 per round) which will be split evenly between a 2’s and competition sweep per round. The sweep is payable in Euros. We will collect the sweep when you check in for the first round. The sweep will be paid out each day.

Nearest the Pins: There will be two Nearest the Pin competitions per round each getting a £25 GAGT voucher.

Order of Merit:  Merit points will be awarded for all four competition rounds. You will need to be a current member of the GAGT to qualify for merit points.

Daily Draw:  The draw for the first two rounds will be on the website by 5pm on Friday 29th December. The draws for the last two rounds will be made in score order.
